Optional: Wet faucet surface and slide hose band (Part H) on
faucet.
Determine the need for an adaptor. Internal Threaded Faucets: Use one of the adaptors supplied (Part L) External Threaded Faucets: Proceed to next step
Attach diverter valve to faucet Position diverter valve so hoses are pointing toward faucet base
(Fig 2). Hand tighten nut until snug. Caution: Tightening with a wrench may
cause damage to diverter valve.
Route hoses through hose band (if used) to end of faucet (Fig 3).
Note: Remove diverter valve before attaching a portable dishwasher
or other appliance.
Step 2: Select Filter Housing Location
Important: Hoses must move freely with faucet without straining.
Placing filter housing on counter. Place base stand (Part E) on counter. Push housing (Part A) onto base stand (Fig 4). Position housing so ASM® Window is visible (Fig 5)
Placing filter housing behind sink. Slide bottom cover (Part D) into end of filter housing (Part A)(Fig
6). Lay filter housing on its side with ASM® Window visible (Fig 7).
Note: Do not discard base stand (Part E). It can be used to assist
in removing cartridge plug (Fig 8).
Step 3: Adjust Hose Length and Attach to Filter Housing
Lay the hose along the desired path from the faucet to
the unit housing. Remove excess hose by cutting with a sharp
knife. IMPORTANT: Be sure to leave an additional 2 inches (5 cm) to
insert into the Fast Connect fittings.
Using depth guide on back of filter housing, mark
insertion depth on each hose with pencil (Fig 10).
Insert gray stripe hose into fitting marked ‘Gray Stripe
Hose Here’. Insert white hose in remaining fitting. Push
hoses in
until they stop solidly (Fig 11).
Note: Wet tip of hoses for easier insertion.
Removing Hoses from Fast Connect fittings
Turn water off. Push in on gray ring of Fast Connect fitting
and pull hose out. Before reinserting hoses, cut off 1/2" of
hose end to prevent leaking.
Step 4: Install the Filter Cartridge
Open filter cartridge package and remove filter
cartridge.
Point arrow on top of cartridge (Fig 12A) and the P–UR
logo on filter housing toward you (Fig 12B).
Insert cartridge into housing and push upward until snug.
(Remove housing from mounting bracket, if used, for easier
installation.)
Attach cartridge plug (Part C) (Fig 13). Do not
over-tighten. When cartridge plug is fully installed, it
will stop solidly indicating
it has reach the end of the threads. Flush The Filter Before Drinking Water. Note: Your new filter may release fine black carbon
particles when first used. It is not harmful and will be
removed during flushing.
Turn on filtered water by pulling out handle on diverter
valve (Fig 14). Water will come out of small diverter valve
aerator – the filter is now on.
Turn filter housing upside down and let run for 1 minute
to flush air bubbles out of system (Fig 15).
Return filter housing to mounting position and continue
flushing for an additional 15 minutes.
Shut water off and wait 15 minutes before using to allow
water to activate filter media. Flush filter for an
additional minute.
How to Replace the Filter
Hold unit over sink when replacing cartridge.
Unscrew cartridge plug (part C). If necessary, use base
stand (Part E) to assist in
removing cartridge plug (Fig 16). IN FILTERED WATER MODE,
RUN WATER SLOWLY
TO ASSIST IN DISCONNECTING THE OLD FILTER FROM THE FILTER
HOUSING. THE
WATER PRESSURE WILL MAKE REMOVAL EASIER.
Discard used filter cartridge. For installing replacement
filter cartridge, reference
Step 4: Install the Filter Cartridge.
How Your Water Filter Works
For filtered water, pull the handle out on
the diverter valve. Water will come out of small diverter
valve aerator. The filter
is on. (Fig. 17)
For unfiltered water, push the diverter valve handle in.
Water will come out of large diverter valve aerator. The
filter
is off. (Fig. 18)
How to Monitor Filter Life
BEGINNING OF FILTER LIFE
After installing a new filter cartridge, the filter monitor
will appear black (Fig. A) indicating up to 4 - 6 months/
200 gallons
(756 liters) of filter life. DURING USE
As you use the filter, a white bar will appear and begin to
move from the left side of the window (Fig B). END OF FILTER LIFE
After the white bar has moved completely across the window,
a red bar will appear. This indicates that the filter is
nearing
the end of its life (Fig. C). The filter unit will shut off
when it reaches the end-of-life for the filter. The red bar
does not
travel completely across the window. NOTE: You cannot clean a filter cartridge. Do not remove a
cartridge unless you intend to replace it. Removing a
filter resets the monitor. The condition of your water may
cause the filter cartridge to fill before the Filter monitor
indicates it is full. If this occurs, replace the cartridge.
Troubleshooting
Water flows from
aerator after water has been shut off.
Turn filter housing upside down and let run for
1 minute to flush air bubbles out of system.
Adaptors don’t fit
If the enclosed adaptors do not fit, contact
PUR Consumer Relations
Water leaks out around
bottom of filter housing.
Be sure black o-ring is on and firmly seated in
o-ring cavity on cartridge plug and it is firmly
tightened.
Drop in water flow in
filtered position.
Replace filter cartridge. The condition of your
water may cause the filter cartridge to fill before
the filter monitor indicates it is full. This is
normal and indicates the filter is working.
Poor water flow in
unfiltered position
Make sure diverter valve handle is pushed all
the way in. Remove and clean diverter valve aerator.
Water leaks out around
faucet adaptor and faucet.
Make sure washer was placed on top of faucet
adaptor when installed. Check that washer with
screen is in place in diverter valve. Make sure
diverter valve is tightened onto faucet.
Cannot remove filter
cartridge for replacement.
While holding unit over a bucket, slowly turn
water on in filtered mode to assist in disconnecting
filter cartridge.
Water leaks from Fast
Connect™ hose fittings.
Remove both hoses and cut 1/2" (1.25 cm) off
hose end and reinsert into Fast Connect™ fittings.
