How To Install PUR Horizontal Faucet Filter (figs 1A-4C)
1. REMOVE FAUCET AERATOR (fig 1A or 1B)
2. DETERMINE THE NEED FOR AN ADAPTER
INTERNAL THREADED FAUCETS: Use one
of the adapters shown in fig. 2.
EXTERNAL THREADED FAUCETS: Proceed
to Step 3.
3. ATTACH THE FILTER TO YOUR FAUCET
Position the unit so that the body
is on the left side of the faucet and the filter monitor window is facing toward
you (fig. 3A).
Attach the threaded mounting nut to
the faucet and turn until tight (fig. 3B).
To ensure a snug fit, grasp the
mounting nut and the body and turn them together counterclockwise.
Then, holding the nut still, turn the body clockwise until the unit is aligned
to the left of your faucet (fig.3C). Repeat this procedure until the unit is
firmly attached to the faucet.
NOTE: Remove filter unit before attaching a portable dishwasher or any
appliance.
4. INSTALL THE FILTER CARTRIDGE
Open the filter cartridge package
and remove the filter cartridge.
Unscrew the bottom cover (fig. 4A)
of the faucet mount housing.
Point the arrow on the top of the
cartridge and the PUR logo on the filter housing toward you.
Insert the cartridge into the
housing. Push the cartridge upward until it is snug (See fig. 4B).
Reattach the bottom cover (See fig.
4C).
NOTE: Installing filter cartridge automatically resets the Filter
Monitor.
HOW TO GET FILTERED AND UNFILTERED WATER
For FILTERED WATER: Turn the water switch so the PUR logo is visible
(fig 5A).
For UNFILTERED WATER: Turn the water switch so that the PUR logo is no
longer visible (fig 5B).
It is OK to run hot water in the filter off position.
FLUSH THE FILTER BEFORE DRINKING WATER
Turn the water switch to the filtered water position (the PUR logo
appears) (See fig. 5A).
Run the water 5 minutes to flush the filter cartridge. Then, before each
use run water for 5 seconds to reactivate the filter media.
NOTE: Your new filter may release fine black carbon particles when
first used. It is not harmful and will be removed during flushing.
HOW TO REPLACE THE FILTER
Unscrew the front cover (See
fig. 4A) of the faucet mounting housing.
Remove the used filter cartridge.
For INSTALLING THE REPLACEMENT FILTER CARTRIDGE, reference STEP 4.
How To Use (figs 5A, 5B) FILTER ON (fig 5A). Do not run hot
water in the on position.
FILTER OFF (fig 5B). It is OK to
run hot water in the off position
How To Monitor Filter Life (figs 6A-6C)BEGINNING OF FILTER LIFE
After installing a new filter
cartridge, the monitor window will appear black (fig. 6A), indicating up to 2-3
months/100 gallons of filter life.
DURING USE As you use the filter, a white bar
will appear and begin to move from the left side of the window (fig.6B).
END OF FILTER LIFE After the white bar has moved
completely across the window, a red bar will appear. This indicates that the
filter is nearing the end of its life (fig. 6C). The filter unit will shut off
when it reaches the end-of-life for the
filter. The red bar does not travel completely across the window.
NOTE: You cannot clean a filter cartridge. Do not remove a cartridge
unless you intend to replace it. Removing a filter resets the monitor. The
condition of your water may cause the filter cartridge to fill before the Filter
Monitor indicates it is full. If this occurs, replace the cartridge.
For Optimal Use, Care and Safety
- The
faucet filter is not intended to purify water. Do not use with water that is
microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection
before or after the system. Systems that are certified for cyst reduction may be
used on disinfected water that may contain filterable cysts.
- Do not use with water above 100°
F/38° C as this may damage the filter.
- After each new filter cartridge
is installed, run the water 5 minutes to flush it. Then, prior to
each use, run water through the filter for 5 seconds to activate the
filter.
- Clean the exterior of the faucet
filter housing with a damp sponge or soft cloth. A mild dishwashing
liquid may be used. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads to
clean this product.

Troubleshooting
| Adaptors dont fit. |
|
If the enclosed adaptors do not fit, contact PUR Consumer Relations.
|
| Water leaks out around the filter unit. |
|
Be sure
the O-ring is on and firmly seated in the O-ring cavity and the front
cover is tight.
|
| Drop in water flow in filtered position. |
|
Replace the filter cartridge. Remember, the condition of your water
may cause the filter cartridge to fill before the Filter Monitor
indicates the cartridge is full. This is normal and indicates that the
filter is working.
|
| Water leaks out around the faucet adaptor and faucet. |
|
Check to see that the washer was placed on top of the faucet adaptor
when installed. Check to see that the washer with screen is in place.
Make sure the mounting nut is tightened onto the faucet.

|
Difficulty in removing the front cover for filter cartridge replacement |
|
You
must relieve pressure from the faucet mount housing to ease in removal
of the front cover. To do this, slowly rotate the water switch
until it is about half way between filtered and unfiltered modes.
This will vent the pressure and allow front cap to be easily removed for
filter replacement. |
